Coins definitely can make you dance and shake what your momma gave you. Coins is a musical project created by Peter Chapman that caught our attention in the latest Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick commercial featuring the song “On Your Lips.” I find it interesting when artists work on projects like this because it is obvious that they are passionate about it. So let’s learn more about Peter Chapman and his project Coins.
Coins creator, Peter Chapman comes from Toronto, Canada. Just like many true artists, Chapman has done a little bit of everything in the music scene. He was a keyboard player for The Midways, who played trashy garage rock music. Surprisingly, he was also into hip-hop and producing Battling and Djing. Another thing under Chapman’s belt is the first place spot in the first live beat battle ever held in Toronto. In this battle, he went against 31 other producers in live production battles for hip-hop music. This was their time to exhibit their live composition skills and slick production abilities.
After all that, Chapman decided to put his hip-hop production on hold and returned to his passion for synthesizers and drum machines. This of course is how Coins was created. He calls the music by Coins dance and electro house. With the live performances Coins offers you are sure to experience loud and distorted music, if that is what you are after. Plus, you will definitely dance!
Coins discography includes quite a collection. Peter Chapman first released Coins in September 2012 that includes 5 tracks. In 2013 he released several singles after one another entitled “On Your Lips” featuring Dolls, “Care of Cell Block” and “Volt Renfrew.” He then released an EP entitled 5 days last December 2013 that also had 5 tracks and “Step Up” featuring Maylee Todd. For this year, Chapman has been busy as well with the releases of Tick Tock last April and his latest Daft Science last July.
As far as we know, Coins has been around since 2012 and there is so much more music that they will be delivering to their audience in the years to come. Chapman is quite active with this project and the best part is, all his music is free for download so don’t miss out on that! Remember, one thing is for sure – Coins make you dance.
